Your Child Deserves a KCS Education, And You May Not Have to Pay Full Price to Get It.
Florida's Step Up For Students scholarship could cover up to $8,000 of your child's tuition at King's Christian School. We'll help you every step of the way.
You Want the Best for Your Child. Cost Shouldn't Be the Reason You Say No.
You've probably thought about what a Christ-centered school like KCS could mean for your child, a safe environment, a teacher who actually knows their name, a faith foundation that lasts a lifetime. But then you do the math.
Private school tuition. Uniforms. Registration fees. The numbers add up fast, and you wonder if a school like KCS is really within reach.
Here's what most Miami parents don't know: Florida has one of the most generous school scholarship programs in the country. Through Step Up For Students, thousands of families already use state-funded scholarships to attend private Christian schools, and many qualify regardless of income.
The only thing standing between your child and a KCS education might be a form you haven't filled out yet.
We're here to help you fill it out.

WHAT WE DO?
Getting Your Scholarship Is Simpler Than You Think. Here's How It Works.
KCS walks you through every step. Here's what the journey looks like from today to your child's first day of school.
Find Out If You Qualify
Florida's scholarship is available to all K–12 students who are Florida residents and eligible to attend public school. There is no income limit to apply, though priority is given to renewal students and lower-income households. If your family earns within 400% of the federal poverty level, you are in the priority window.
Not sure if you qualify? Call or email our admissions team and we'll review your situation with you, no pressure, no obligation.
Apply for Your Scholarship Through Step Up For Students
You apply directly through Step Up For Students at stepupforstudents.org. KCS will help you gather what you need and answer any questions that come up during the process.
You'll need: Proof of Florida residency (two documents dated within 30 days of applying), your child's Social Security number, and your Social Security number.
Important dates:
- Applications open: February 1
- Priority renewal deadline: April 30
- Scholarships awarded on a rolling basis
Apply to KCS & Schedule Your Tour
While your scholarship application is being processed, begin your KCS enrollment. Schedule a school tour, meet our teachers, and let your child experience what it feels like to be at KCS. We'll coordinate directly with Step Up For Students to confirm KCS as your scholarship school once you're approved.
Your Child Starts at KCS
Once awarded, your scholarship funds are sent directly to KCS each quarter to cover tuition and fees. If your scholarship covers more than tuition, remaining funds can be used for books, testing fees, and other approved educational expenses, through your Step Up For Students account.
You focus on your child. We handle the paperwork.
WHAT THE SCHOLARSHIP COVERS
Your Scholarship Does More Than Pay Tuition.
Florida's Private School Scholarship (FTC/FES-EO) covers tuition and fees at KCS. Any remaining scholarship funds can be used toward:
- Textbooks and instructional materials
- Curriculum
- Standardized testing fees (SAT, ACT, AP, and others)
- Tutoring services from approved providers
- After-school education programs
- Uniforms and required school supplies (check purchasing guidelines)
Average scholarship value for Miami-Dade County: approximately $8,000 per student per year.
Exact award amounts vary by county and are updated annually. View current award amounts.

WHAT THE SCHOLARSHIP COVERS
Don't Wait, Seats And Scholarships Are Limited
40,000 New Florida Students Become Scholarship-Eligible Every Year. Seats at KCS Are Not Unlimited.
Florida's school choice expansion means more families than ever can now afford a private Christian school education. That's good news. But it also means demand for schools like KCS is growing fast — and scholarship funding is awarded on a first-come, first-served basis once priority windows close.
If you're thinking about KCS for the 2026–2027 school year, now is the time to act. Applications open February 1, and the April 30 deadline for priority processing arrives quickly.
Families who wait often find two things: scholarship funds have been prioritized to renewal students, and KCS enrollment is full.
Don't let a missed deadline be the reason your child doesn't get the education they deserve.

Common Questions About The Step Up Scholarship At KCS
Does my family income affect eligibility?
No. All Florida students who are eligible to enroll in a K–12 public school can apply, regardless of household income. However, priority for awarding scholarships goes first to renewal students, then to families earning below 185% of the federal poverty level, then to families between 185, 400% of the federal poverty level. Families above 400% FPL may still apply and be awarded if funding is available.
What if my child is already in a public school?
Your child can still apply. The scholarship allows students to leave public school and enroll in a participating private school like KCS. Once your scholarship is awarded and your enrollment at KCS is confirmed, your public school enrollment will end.
Can my child lose the scholarship once it's awarded?
Your child keeps the scholarship as long as they remain enrolled full-time at KCS, maintain their Florida residency, and renew their application by the April 30 deadline each year. KCS will remind you each renewal season.
What if my child was bullied at a public school?
If your child experienced a bullying incident as defined by Florida law, you can apply for the Hope Scholarship at any time during the school year — no waiting for the February 1 open date. Contact our admissions office immediately so we can help you act quickly.
Can I apply for the scholarship and still tour KCS before deciding?
Yes — and we encourage it. You can begin your scholarship application and tour KCS at the same time. There's no obligation to enroll before your scholarship is processed.
How does KCS receive the scholarship money?
Scholarship funds are paid directly to KCS by Step Up For Students on a quarterly basis. You don't handle the tuition funds. Any remaining scholarship funds beyond tuition are deposited into your family's education savings account for approved educational expenses.
